As the snow melts and the days lengthen, spring heralds the time for gardening and outdoor activities. Your Power King outdoor power equipment has been hibernating through the winter months, and now is the perfect moment to awaken and prepare it for the bustling season ahead. Regular maintenance not only extends the lifespan of your equipment but also ensures it operates at peak efficiency. Here’s your comprehensive guide to getting your Power King tools spring-ready.
Routine upkeep of your outdoor power equipment is crucial. It's the cornerstone of operational efficiency, safety, and reliability. Regular maintenance prevents the likelihood of equipment failure and costly repairs, ensuring your Power King tools are always ready for action.
Inspect for Damage: Begin by examining your equipment for any signs of wear or damage. Look for cracks, rust, or any parts that seem loose or out of place. Early identification of potential issues can prevent further damage.
Cleaning: Remove any dirt, debris, or remnants of last season's work. A clean machine not only runs better but allows you to see any potential issues more clearly. Use a soft brush or cloth to clean sensitive areas, ensuring you don't cause damage to the equipment.
Check the Oil: Engine health is paramount. Check the oil level and quality. If the oil is dirty or below the minimum mark, change it. Fresh oil lubricates the engine parts effectively, reducing wear and tear.
Air Filter: A clean air filter ensures that your engine breathes properly. Remove the air filter and clean it according to the manufacturer's instructions, or replace it if it's beyond salvage.
Lubrication: Moving parts need to be lubricated to prevent friction and wear.
All Equipment:
Apply 1 pump of lithium bearing grease via the Zerk fittings to properly lubricate bearings.
Chipper Shredders
Spray swivel joints on Chipper Shredder chutes with white lithium grease.
Stump Grinders
Spray white lithium grease on the brake handle assembly joints and on the brake cable to keep everything well lubricated.
Log Splitters
Use an Extreme Pressure grease where the rack and spline meet and make sure I Beam is free from any debris. You can use a scraper to remove stuck on material.
Battery Maintenance: If your equipment uses a battery, ensure it is fully charged and properly installed. Check for any signs of corrosion and clean the contacts if necessary.
Electrical Connections: Inspect all electrical connections to make sure they are tight and free of corrosion. Loose or corroded connections can lead to operational failures.
Always prioritize safety when performing maintenance on your Power King equipment. Wear appropriate protective gear, disconnect any power sources to prevent accidents.
Preparing your Power King outdoor power equipment for spring is a rewarding task that ensures reliability and efficiency when you need it most. By following these steps, you’ll not only prolong the life of your equipment but also enjoy a smoother start to your spring outdoor activities.
]]>1. Clean Your Equipment: Start by cleaning your equipment thoroughly. Remove all dirt, debris, and grime, focusing on the engine area. This prevents corrosion and ensures that no blockages will affect the engine when you start it up again.
2. Change the Oil: Before storing, change the engine oil. Old oil can contain contaminants that may damage the engine over time. Fresh oil provides better protection during the storage period.
3. Stabilize the Fuel: Add a fuel stabilizer to the tank and run the engine for a few minutes to distribute it through the system. This prevents the fuel from deteriorating and causing issues like varnish and gum buildup in the carburetor.
4. Disconnect the Battery: Remove the battery and store it in a cool, dry place. Ideally, keep the battery on a trickle charger to maintain its charge without overcharging.
5. Protect from Moisture: Store your engine in a dry, covered area to protect it from moisture. Moisture can lead to rust and corrosion, especially in colder temperatures.
6. Lubricate Moving Parts: Apply a light coat of oil or lubricant to any moving parts to prevent rust and ensure smooth operation when you next use the engine.
7. Seal the Engine: Cover exhaust ports and intake with a breathable material to prevent pests from entering and nesting in the engine.
Conclusion: Taking these steps to winterize your Power King equipment can save you time and money in repairs. With proper care and storage, your equipment will be ready to perform at its best once the winter is over. Stay warm, and rest easy knowing your tools are well-protected!
]]>1. Check the oil level using the yellow dip stick and add if necessary. You will see 2 yellow dip sticks on your engine. These both go to the same reservoir. In most cases, 10W-30 will do.
2. Check the fuel level. Make sure this is at least half full.
3. Check the air filter and replace if dirty or clogged.
4. Check the emergency stop switch. When it is pushed down the engine will turn of or cease to run. Twist to the right and it will pop up and the engine is ready to be started.
5. Set fuel lever to the "ON" position.
6. Set choke lever to "ON" position when cold starting the engine.
7. Set throttle lever to quarter to half throttle.
8. Pull starter cord or use electric start if available.
9. Once the engine is started. set choke lever to "OFF" and throttle lever to idle.
10. Let the engine warm up for a few minutes before setting to full throttle to start your job.

1. Make engine switch is set to off to prevent accidental startup.
2. Remove 6 bolts on the belt cover with 13mm Socket Wrench.
3. Remove belt cover.
4. Position screw drivers depicted below and move left hand in upward motion to remove first belt.
5. Position screw driver depicted below to move 2nd belt onto 1st groove.
6. Once belt is on first groove, use the first technique to remove it.
7. Position the bottom of the 2nd belt (closest to engine) on the 2nd groove.
8. Use technique depicted below and move arm in upward motion to install on 1st groove. (Make sure belt stays the proper orientation)
9. Now you have to move the top of the belt onto the 2nd groove using the same technique.
10. once that is done, you can install the 2nd belt the same way.
